African Sun, the largest hotel group in the country, has embarked on a massive recruitment drive a sign that the tourism sector is starting to pick up after years of decline.
Recruitment would be made for generals managers, food and beverage managers, facility managers, executive chefs, front office managers and executive housekeepers.
“We are seeking suitably qualified and experienced Zimbabweans or non-Zimbabweans to fill several vacancies that have arisen within African Sun Limited. The typical African Sun employee is a highly qualified, high performing, experienced professional with a natural flair for service, a positive outlook and passion for life.
We are serious about performance, leadership, effective teams, personal and career development.
“Our motto is ‘If I can imagine it, it can be done,” said African Sun.
Even though African Sun could not give figures it is expected that tens of people would be recruited.
For the managers’ posts, applicants are supposed to be in possession of a diploma, higher national diploma or a first degree in tourism and hospitality. Experience requirements vary with that of general managers being the most demanding at between ix and seven years while those of food and beverage managers and those of facilities managers being pegged at a minimum of three.
African Sun is the largest Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) franchisee in Africa and it manages 13 hotels in Zimbabwe, four in Nigeria, two in South Africa and a single one in Ghana.
