Response from potential exhibitors to the 2009 Harare Agricultural Show has been fair, the Zimbabwe Agriculture Society general manager Mr Marlett has said.
Zimbabwe Agriculture Society is the organization that is responsible for organizing the Harare Agriculture Show.
In an interview with Business Zimbabwe, Mr Marlett said they had started inviting exhibitors to this year’s event.
“This year’s show will be held under the theme: ZAS 99 and still growing and we have invited exhibitors and a significant number has so far taken invoices. Traditionally, exhibitors wait until the last minute to pay and this year the final day of payment is June 30.
This year’s show will be held from August 24 to 29.
It is the 99th exhibition to be made by the agriculture society.
“The agriculture society was formed in 1895 and this is our 99th exhibition as there were times when there was no exhibition because of wars and also because of diseases. Anybody can exhibit at the Harare Agriculture Show and in the past we have had exhibitors from South Africa, Iran, Zambia, Botswana and The United Kingdom also used to exhibit with us,” added Mr Marlett.
He also said they were looking at attracting the foreign exhibitors next year.
“We are looking more and more for the exhibitors to come back during the 2010 Harare Agriculture Show,” he said.
Harare Agriculture Show is the prime exhibition in the country and can only be rivaled by the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair, though they have different areas of focus.
It is usually used as the benchmark for the performance of not only the agriculture industry in the country but also other sectors such as manufacturing, retail, finance as well as service delivery.
It is a major attraction not only for exhibitors but also for the general visitors as there is a mixture of business and entertainment.
