Completion of major constructions started in the last ten years is now expected as the economy starts to stabilise.
It is also anticipated that new constructions will punctuate the skies of major cities, especially Harare and Bulawayo in the next few years.
Some of the major constructions which have stalled include the mega site - Joina Centre, which was started more than a decade ago but has been dooged by a shortage of equipment. Some of the materials used on Joina Centre is imported and the massive shortage of foreign currency made it virtually impossible to complete the complex.
It is now expected that the final touches would be made on the site, which is now more than 80 percent complete before it opens its doors to the public.
On completion, Joina Centre would have a wide range of shops, child care centres, movies houses, offices and restaurants.
Apart from Joina Centre, it is also expected that some pension funds, the biggest players in the industry in the country would also come up with new constructions.
It is anticipated that a new shopping complex may be constructed at the Exhibition Park (Show Ground).
This shopping complex has been on the cards for quite some time and has also fallen victim to the economic melt down in the last 10 years. When started, the shopping complex is expected to completely change the face of Harare, in the manner the construction of the shopping complexes such as Westgate, Eastgate, Samy Levy and High Glen did.
Goevernment, which is also a significant player, is also expected to come in with some major constructions and these may include the completion of the Interpol Headquarters west of the capital.
It is also expected that the new parliamentary complex, to be constructed in the Kopje area would take shape once the finances have been put in place.
Goevernment was one of the last players to constrct a major building when it completed the New Government Complex within the central business district of Harare.
Construction of some of the major sites has also been made possible by the availability of building material especially cement.
