NetOne to launch new product range

NetOne, through its flagship Easycall is set to launch a number of exciting new products.

Under the short message service (SMS) extra, the telecommunications firm plans to launch a host of products aimed at upgrading the services to subscribers.

One of the products on offer is the SMS call me back. This facility would allow a subscriber even without any credit in his or her account to send a message. It is usually a standard message informing the recipient to call the sender.

Another product is credit transfer which allows a subscriber to share some airtime with another subscriber.

NetOne also announced that it would also be availing products which would allow subscribers to have a home zone billing, a list of friends and family where one can phone at discounted rate and indirect recharge.

There is cut throat competition in the telecommunications sector since the beginning of the year as they are striving to offer exclusive services.

This range of products from NetOne comes at a time when its two other rivals, Econet and Telecel Zimbabwe have been unveiling some lines.

Despite being the second largest service provider, based on the number of subscribers, NetOne has the widest network coverage in the country. It is largely expected that the new range of products would add value to the services which are currently being offered by the telecommunications companies.

It has been argued that the expansion in terms of subscriber bases should also be matched with an increase in the quality of service. Prior to dollarisation, telecommunications companies have been accused of availing a lot of lines without increasing the number of base stations which resulted in massive congestions.

Things have greatly improved and it is expected that this trend would continue and local services would catch up with those offered within the region.
