Zimpost introduces shopping mall

There have been changes to the Main Post Office as it has been transformed into a shopping mall.
Occupancy at the shopping mall which opened its doors less than three months ago is almost 100 percent, a sign that it is a strategic position.
The shopping mall is situated at the ground floor of the main post office and some of the wares on display include clothing, pharmaceuticals, cosmetic products, kitchenware and some electrical gadgets.
A visit to the new shopping mall by Business Zimbabwe revealed that despite being new it was becoming popular with both occupants and customers.
There has also been a significant change to the outlook of the building. It has been transformed from the gray and archaic colour of its walls to a variety of colours a result of the putting up of various banners and displays.
The floors to the mall have also been redone and they now sport a smart colour as well as sign that there is a lot of life.
When Business Zimbabwe visited the premises, there were a number of workers setting up a number of boards, banners and displays.
“This is exciting for us because when we started we thought there would not be any business as many people only took this to be a rendezvous and a few would come in for postal transactions. However, we have been witnessing a stead increase in the number of people coming for their shopping and we hope if the economy continues to stabilize then we would also continue to have customers,” said one shop assistant.
Most of the shops are of a small and manageable size, which is ideal for those who want a corner shop.
While measurements vary, there are some as small as five metres by seven metres.
This in no way is a hindrance for the occupants as it suits their needs.
“There is no point in me getting a bigger shop which will have yawning gaps or resemble a playing ground. I would rather have a small shop which I would fill with goods. And after all, this is the most secure place you can think of. Imagine what other people do at the end of each day. They have to take their wares to a secure place but here it is a matter of locking the doors,” said one Ms Hwata.
